Mission

We inspire participants to reach their highest potential.

Walk On’s mission is to provide equine assisted activities to people with physical, cognitive, social and emotional disabilities. Equine Assisted activities provide motivational, educational, and recreational benefits that enhance the quality of life through interaction with the horse. The goal of Walk On is to partner with the horse to inspire the participants to reach their highest potential.

Programs

Building on abilities.

Experiencing the magic of our horses is at the heart of every program at Walk On. Our programs are created for each participant to build their physical, cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral abilities through a variety of horse related activities. I ride at Walk On because at my age I am unable to ride by myself. I ride the trusty Wilbur in whom I have the greatest confidence! I need help mounting and dismounting. The volunteers are very helpful.

– Abra Shapiro, participant

I love Walk On for the new opportunity it has given my daughter. Getting to ride Taco with such caring, supportive and hard-working staff assisting her has made for a truly wonderful experience. We look forward to our weekly lesson.

– Julie Bicknase, participant family & volunteer board member

I love volunteering at Walk On Farm! Working with the clients, co-workers & horses is so fulfilling. I am not a "horse person" so every time I volunteer I learn something new. I believe these experiences have taught me to be patient, thoughtful, and open to new opportunities.

– Gail Rhodes, volunteer

Volunteering at Walk On is a highlight of my week. As a retired social worker, I missed my favorite part of the job, the students. Also I am a life-long horse girl. Horses have a special healing effect on people, it's science!

– Cindy Kozlowski, volunteer

My son, Cristian, loves spending time at Walk on. His sessions are calm and engaging and he's developed a lovely connection with his horse, instructor, and volunteers.

– Claudia Del Fiacco, participant family

I volunteer at Walk On because they provide a safe, fun, and educative hands-on experience for anyone interested in learning about horse care and calm-assertive leadership, as well as learning about equine therapy and all of the benefits it provides to those with different abilities. I'm going into my 3rd year of volunteering and I look forward to seeing the students I assist week after week make little steps of progress, all while building trusting, lasting relationships with the horses they ride.

– Becca Reynolds, volunteer

I volunteer at Walk On because I have always felt it's very important to give back. Since I like horses, I get the best of both worlds, by seeing the excitement on our client's faces every time they come for their riding lesson.
